So, you are looking for a great massage therapist... And, I am a great massage therapist!
So, your search is going well, yet still, I may, or may not, be the best massage therapist for you?
So, how do we find that out? ...
Well, here are a few details about my practice -- and from here you can always give me a call or email if you have a question, and we can decide together. Or you can decide that you would like to come in for an appointment to give it a shot -- and I will do my very best to help you, and we'll go from there!
Helpful details:
Mine is a soft-tissue practice that specializes in reduction or elimination of pain in your problem areas. Gentle precision and great detail are relaxing and reassuring as bothersome spots are found and addressed.
I really like to work creatively with the knowledge I have, so your sessions will not always be exactly the same. We may move your arm in a new way, decide to work with abdominal muscles (painlessly!) to help your back pain, or have you lay on your side during the session. I may not always do a full body session -- in some cases it is more effective to use our time specifically. Being open to new ideas is helpful here.
Clients usually request 0-3 areas that are most important to them, and the goal is to create lasting improvement in those tissues. If someone has zero complaints (awesome for them!), I seek out tissues I can assist and we work on prevention and keeping them feeling awesome.
Also, my expectations for soft-tissue work and the change it creates are very high. It can, does and should make your life better! Yahoo! However, if I don't feel I can help you, I will say so. Often I can help refer you on, if you like. Your wellness is my #1 professional priority. Which brings me to the next point you may be interested in ---->
My clients know that they are not under any pressure. Sometimes, even before you make an appointment somewhere, you're afraid you'll feel pressured to make more! Ah! Or you'll be given homework or pressure to be perfect! Yikes! There is so much pressure and obligation in life! Well don't worry, all you have to do when you make an appointment is show up, (or call within reason of course! 24 hours if at all possible please :-) And if anything concerning your therapy, scheduling or any other related thing is stressing you out, just let me know and we'll get it taken care of. No problem at all.
Below are some examples from my practice if you're still wondering what type of work I'm talking about? Some common requests that find their way to me, may be familiar to you, too:
A) "My left hip, low back and right shoulder always bother me."
B) "I feel cramped and bloated. I want to feel open - stretched and lean."
C) "My mid-back is hurting and I have lots of anxiety lately."
D) "My shoulders and neck are always tense, but I'm not sure if massage is for me? Because every time I've gone for a massage I'm sore for days, and my shoulders and neck don't improve, but I know the therapist really wanted to help me? I've heard you can help without causing pain."
E) "I've tried everything, and nothing has worked. The doctor, meds, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic... I'm not feeling very optimistic. But, I've been referred to you, so I figured it can't hurt to try."
I hope that this information is helpful to you, and wish you a very good day!
Yours in health,
Ashley Tape Fleming, LMT
